#60 REDS
The deep, capacious red of the awning at the left strikes me as being one of the richest, most authoritative, most commanding reds in recent photography. It's a storytelling red that evokes and contains the vast important reds of experience: blood reds, flame reds, communist reds, imperialist reds, nature-red-in-tooth-and claw (Tennyson), bullfight reds, Matisse reds and goopy valentine, heartbeat reds. The ancient tree across the way, on the right, is a gnarled, hoarse, even mute witness to the parade of red-living through the machinations of being. The red is passion. The tree is All Passion Spent.
